Germany’s Economy Minister, Robert Habeck, said Tuesday that Europe’s “strength and determination” have “definitely suffered” as a result of the “wrangling”; among EU member states over further sanctions against Russia, which the group agreed to on Monday.

“It’s a compromise, and perhaps we live in an era when too many compromises not only obstruct but also undermine clarity.” “That makes me very unhappy,” Habeck remarked at a press appearance in Berlin.
During the talks of the sixth package of EU penalties against Moscow; Habeck accused Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban of “ruthlessly” pursuing his “own interests.”
According to the minister, there is a disconnect between a short-term focus on one’s own country; and a long-term commitment to principles that can only be shared globally.
“I’m angry, to put it politely; ” Habeck added, “with how Viktor Orban can intervene so deeply that you ruthlessly simply play poker for your own interests.”
