Agatha was downgraded to a tropical storm late Monday after making landfall as a Category 2 hurricane in southern Mexico.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm had maximum sustained winds of 70 mph with some stronger gusts.
According to the hurricane centre, Agatha made landfall Monday afternoon just west of Puerto Angel, with 105 mph winds.
All hurricane watches and warnings were cancelled, although tropical storm watches; and warnings were still in effect from Puerto Escondido to Salina Cruz.
As it approached the southern Mexican coast Sunday night, Agatha, the first hurricane of the eastern Pacific season, had swiftly strengthened in the eastern Pacific Ocean and was on the verge of becoming a major hurricane.
