Couples forced to postpone weddings amid crisis

Couples forced to postpone weddings amid crisis

More than half of adults who are engaged or have been married in the last decade believe the cost of living crisis is a cause to cut back on their big day, according to a study of more than 2,000 participants.

For the sake of the environment and their wallets, over two-thirds indicated they were planning smaller, more sustainable weddings.

In 2022, an estimated 350,000 weddings are expected.

According to a Gumtree poll, one in every five brides plans to wear a second-hand gown, with 16 percent expecting to wear second-hand jewellery.

Couples also save money by not hiring a wedding planner (44%), having a friend capture photos (28%), and doing their own hair and cosmetics (28%).
