Videos released on social media purport to show a young man in a wheelchair wearing a wig and lipstick.

On Monday, an activist threw cake at Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, which is housed in the Louvre Museum in Paris. A witness to the incident, Sergio Migliaccio, described the man as being in a wheelchair and wearing a long wig among the mass of tourists going to see the famous painting.
“All of a sudden, the guy leapt out of his wheelchair and climbed the railings with a red rose between his lips, attacking the Mona Lisa with a cake,” Migliaccio recalled.
The painting is protected from the cake by being hung behind a layer of glass. Security agents were seen dragging the wig-wearing protester out from the gallery as he shouted to the stunned guests, “Think of the Earth.” There are those who are wreaking havoc on the planet. Consider that for a moment. Think of the Earth, say the artists. That’s why I went through with it.”
