Top Gun: Maverick is now in theatres, and it’s generating quite a stir. The sequel to the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun stars Tom Cruise. Fans have been waiting 36 years for the second instalment, and they are ecstatic. The reviews and ratings have been overwhelmingly good, and it has a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.
Not only that, but the action flick is expected to break Paramount’s Memorial Day weekend box office record. Tom indulges in insane exploits in this film directed by Joseph Kosinski. The actor has realised his ambition of being both a pilot and an actor.
Tom Cruise (kind of) pilots F/A-18 Super Hornets planes for the $70 million film Top Gun: Maverick. Despite being a professional pilot, the actor was not allowed to touch any of the jet’s buttons or controls, as previously reported. According to reports, the Navy declined authorization due to the planes’ high cost.
Non-military employees are also alleged to be prohibited from controlling a Defense Department asset, according to reports. Now, a new revelation from Bloomberg has revealed how much it costs to have the F-18 planes on set for an hour. The US Navy was paid a hefty $11,374 (Rs. 8 lakhs and more) per hour to fly the planes in Top Gun: Maverick by Paramount Pictures.
It’s no surprise that it had a $170 million budget. It isn’t the only film in which Tom Cruise appears to be piloting a plane. Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 will be released in 2023 and 2024, respectively. According to rumours, the actor will perform insane feats across the whole MI trilogy.
Despite the fact that those films are still in the works, Tom Cruise fans may watch Top Gun: Maverick. Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, and others star in the picture.
