Beijing: China has built the world’s first automated navy with automatic drones, automatic boats and automatic submarines. Initially, the purpose of the research is said to be, but it is thought that it could be used for defence purposes as well.
Named the “Zoo Hai Yen”, it can hold up to 50 automatic drones, boats and small submarines. At 290 feet long, the fleet is the world’s first semi-automatic drone carrier. It can launch automatic drones and boats and will keep in touch with them. Its submarines, boats and aerial drones will be able to carry out a joint mission. However, China has said it could also be used for surveillance.
China has said it is automatic but will not be placed near busy ports. It will be operated by remote control only after reaching open and remote waters. The Navy’s automated system will then begin operations. Here boats will automatically land and drones will fly.
According to Chinese officials, they want to conduct research in all three areas, such as sea, air and water levels, and the oceans will be surveyed in 3D for specific purposes. Interestingly, drones will work to bring boats and submarines into the water and bring them back to the ship without human intervention.
Dr Dick Chen of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has called it a new “marine species” or marine invention that will open up new avenues for marine research. However, they have also dubbed it the ‘Ocean Research Platform’.
