Shan Masood of Pakistan has been selected as captain of the Derbyshire Falcons for the T20 Blast.
Masood, the Multan Sultans’ all-time greatest Pakistan Super League run-scorer, has experience leading in T20 cricket in his home country and will now lead Derbyshire as they seek to build on a successful debut season under Mickey Arthur.
Shan Masood had signed a contract with Derbyshire this season and performed brilliantly in red-ball cricket, scoring 844 runs in 9 innings, including 2 double centuries.
Derbyshire coach Mickey Arthur says Shan is highly respected in the squad and the players support him.
Shan Masood will be the second Pakistani to captain a county in the T20 in England. Wasim Akram has previously led Hampshire in a match.
Shan Masood is also the captain of Multan Sultans in Pakistan Super League (PSL), Southern Punjab in National Domestic Season and Bagh Stallions in Kashmir Premier League (KPL).
