Bernie Ecclestone, the former F1 boss, was arrested in Brazil for unlawfully carrying a gun on a private plane to Switzerland.

Local police said they discovered an undocumented LW Seecamp.32 gun in the 91-year-luggage old’s during an X-ray screening on Thursday.

Ecclestone admitted to having the weapon, but said he had no idea it was in his luggage at the time.

Ecclestone was released after paying his bail and was able to continue his journey to Switzerland.

Ecclestone is married to Brazilian-born Fabiana Ecclestone, who was the CEO of Formula One for 40 years before stepping down in 2017.
