Dr. Lillian Liao, paediatric trauma medical director at University Hospital in San Antonio said; that three children were injured in the Uvalde school shooting and that her hospital is presently treating them.

“They are critical but stable,” she said; adding that they will continue to get care in the next days and weeks.

“We were treating devastating wounds,” Liao explained, “which means there were substantial sections of tissue gone from the body and they required emergency surgery since there was tremendous blood loss.”
As she remembered receiving the damaged youngsters, Liao blinked tears away.
