Kate Moss, Johnny Depp’s ex, testified in his defence in a defamation case

On Wednesday, British model Kate Moss, who dated Johnny Depp, testified briefly in the defamation case between Johnny and Amber Heard.

Amber had mentioned Kate previously in the trial, claiming Johnny had shoved the model down a staircase while they were dating in the 1990s. Kate, on the other hand, testified on Wednesday that no such incident ever occurred.

Johnny is suing Amber in Virginia for $50 million, claiming she defamed him in a Washington Post piece in 2018 when she claimed she was a victim of domestic abuse.

Amber Heard has countersued Depp for $100 million, claiming that his lawyer slandered her by saying her accusations were a “hoax.” The lawsuit, which is being tried in Virginia, will have its last arguments on Friday, May 27.

After Amber spoke about a time she worried Johnny might force her sister down a stairwell, Johnny’s defence team brought Kate as a rebuttal witness on Wednesday. She said she remembered “rumours” of Johnny throwing Kate Moss down a flight of stairs and slapping him to prevent him from hurting her sister.

Kate, who dated Johnny from 1994 to 1998, testified that on a vacation in Jamaica, she stumbled on a stairwell and hurt her back. She went on to say that Johnny raced to her aid, carrying her to her room and calling for help. Kate, who spoke by video from England, claimed, “He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs.”

In previous evidence, Johnny said that he never beat his ex-wife and that she was the one who became aggressive. During their brief marriage, Amber claims she was subjected to physical and sexual assault by Johnny. They met on set of The Rum Diary in 2011 and married in February 2015. Two years later, their divorce was formalised.
