Gov. Ned Lamont, a Democrat from Connecticut, addressed the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting on Wednesday, nearly a decade after a comparable tragedy, the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012, left his state devastated.

He said, “Here we are again.” “What happened in Texas yesterday happened almost ten years to the month that Sandy Hook happened, and there are too many spooky connections.”

“I adore America, but this should not be our lot in life.” “What are our options?” he asked.

To assist reduce gun violence, he said his state focuses on mental health facilities, particularly in schools, as well as background checks for gun transactions.

“There is a difference. “In Georgia and Texas, where it’s much simpler to carry a gun, far more people carry a gun, and you don’t need a background check — the amount of shootings, killings, and mass shootings are three, four, five times more than in our state,” he said.

“Sometimes a shoulder to rest on and someone to say ‘I love you’ is what’s most important,” he said, urging the public to “watch out for each other.”
