Two law enforcement sources indicated an off-duty Customs and Border Protection agent with the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) was engaged in killing the suspect in the Uvalde school massacre.

While the gunfire was still ongoing, the agent entered the school with two local police officers. They were able to approach the shooter as he fired from behind a barricade and “remove the threat,” killing him.
According to the two law enforcement sources, the CBP agent was shot and wounded, but not fatally.
CBP’s Del Rio area, which encompasses Uvalde, employs the agent.
