Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is slated to give an update on the state’s response to Tuesday’s tragic school shooting in Uvalde afternoon.

Abbott, a Republican, will conduct a press conference at the SSGT Willie de Leon Civic Center; in Uvalde at 12:30 p.m. local time, or 1:30 p.m. ET, following a briefing on the school shooting at Robb Elementary School, according to his office.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, Republican Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz; and other politicians and authorities are anticipated to join the governor.
Also anticipated to attend are Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rodriguez, Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo; and Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw.
