In the aftermath of Tuesday’s tragic school shooting in Uvalde; Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has called for a programme to train teachers to “help defend” schools.

Paxton said he was travelling to the community west of San Antonio to “evaluate all the ways that we can help each of these families who have suffered so horribly yesterday”; in a phone interview with Fox Business on Wednesday.
Paxton, a Republican, believes that “a programme in Texas that allows instructors; school districts to educate teachers to assist protect the school as well” should be established. He advised that trained police personnel be in to assist. “You know, we’re giving $40 billion to Ukraine,” he continued, referring to a recent aid package approved by the Senate. He stated, “We can certainly — we can defend the students at our school and bring in qualified police officers to assist us.”
