Authorities say Salvador Rolando Ramos, who is accused of killing 19 children and two instructors in a mass shooting at a Texas elementary school on Tuesday, holed himself inside a classroom while shooting at pupils and staff.

The Texas Department of Public Safety’s Lt. Christopher Olivarez provided additional data about the Robb Elementary School massacre in Uvalde. He told MSNBC that the shooter was armed with an AR-15-style gun and had no criminal record.
The 18-year-old suspect was “unemployed” and had “no friends, no girlfriends we can identify,” according to Olivarez. When law police engaged the shooter at the school, which educates students in grades two through four, he was slain.
