Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is facing backlash for his response to the elementary school massacre in Uvalde; which killed at least 19 pupils and two instructors.
The Republican senator, who said in a tweet that he is praying for the victims and their families, received a barrage of criticism on Twitter for his support for gun rights and his opposition to gun reform legislation.
Cruz, a Republican, has been chastised by Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York for his plans to appear at the National Rifle Association’s annual gathering three days after the tragic mass murder.
“Aren’t you speaking for the National Rifle Association in three days – in Houston, no less?” ” stated Ocasio-Cortez. “Praying isn’t the only thing you can do. “Works without faith are dead.”
