Russia is employing a scorched-earth strategy in eastern Ukraine, devastating places with aircraft and artillery before sending in Russian troops, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces are successfully repelling enemy attacks.

According to a journalist, Ukrainian Defense Ministry Spokesperson Oleksandr Motuzianyk made the relevant comment during a briefing at Ukraine Media Center.

“The aggressor is using tactical missile systems and aviation to fire across the contact line, particularly in the Donetsk operating district and the Sloviansk direction. The enemy is employing a scorched-earth policy almost everywhere, including in Sievierosonetsk, Bakhmut, and Mariupol, where they are just destroying the territory with aviation and artillery before Russian soldiers enter it. Meanwhile, it’s unclear what will happen to the region after that. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are successfully repelling offensive actions, and we are certain that our efforts will continue to be successful in the future,” Motuzianyk said.

According to him, Russian troops continue to lose ground in Ukraine.

“Ukrainian soldiers have repelled 11 enemy attacks in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions over the past day, destroying six tanks, ten armored battle vehicles, and six motor vehicles.” An enemy Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicle and a Su-25 aircraft were shot down by Ukrainian anti-air defense units. Four hostile cruise missiles were destroyed by Ukrainian aircraft and air defense missile forces, according to Motuzianyk.
