The amount of water received by Balochistan from Sindh has been reduced by 83%, said Balochistan Minister for Irrigation Muhammad Khan Lahri.

Quetta-Kirthar Canal, Och Canal, Pit Feeder and Manjhoti are getting many times less water than the fixed formula, the minister maintained.
He added that the farmers of the province were longing for a drop of water for irrigation of their lands.
Lari feared that famine is looming in the province, adding that if the water supply is not restored, Balochistan will boycott the IRSA meeting.
Earlier informing the National Assembly on May 12, 2022, Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that the water shortage issue would hopefully be overpowered by June 15.
Responding to point of orders raised by several members about the shortage of water in Sindh and Punjab provinces, Khursheed Shah said the country was facing water shortage problem and tail areas of Sindh and Punjab were among the more sufferers.
He said that water shortage was an important issue as it pertained to our future. All our issues are mainly related to water, he added.
He said the temperature in Skardu has risen to 27/28 degree centigrade resulting in improved water inflow in Tarbela. This year, water inflow in the Kabul River also remained low as compared to the last year, he added.
Khursheed Shah expressed the hope that the current water shortage situation would improve by June 30. He assured that all the provinces would be given water as per their share. Water shortage will also be shared with the provinces accordingly, he added.

He also requested the Punjab government to provide 200-300 cusecs water to Cholistan from its share.
Fayyazuddin, Nawab Yousaf Talpur and other members said that many areas were facing an acute shortage of water.
