A Western diplomat warns that any corridor created to ensure safe passage for food shipments out of the Ukrainian port city of Odesa will require Russian consent.

Ukraine has proposed for the establishment of a corridor.

It claimed that it will benefit the country and assist to prevent world hunger.

Ukraine exports almost 70% of its crops, with the harvest feeding 400 million people last year.

“Clearly the Russians are dominating that area,” the Western official said.

“It would require the permission of the Russians, some sort of agreement to allow that to take place,” he continued.

“It would require some sort of security guarantee, I think from Turkey, to make it a reality.”

“I think the thing that we’d have to rule out is any sense that this could be done without Russia’s permission.”
