President Joe Biden will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi one-on-one in Japan this week as the US tries to persuade India to join the western sanctions on Russia.

They will meet on the sidelines of the Quad Summit, which is likely to focus on Indo-Pacific security. The Quad is a loose coalition of the United States, India, Japan, and Australia.
As the US President travelled from South Korea to Japan, national security advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters that Biden and Modi’s meetings will be “constructive and transparent.”
