When Ukraine’s Snake Island was attacked on February 24, Nataliia Zazian’s husband was a marine protecting the island. The strike kicked off the conflict in Ukraine, and a viral video of a Ukrainian soldier urging a Russian vessel to “go fuck yourself” when told to surrender “to avoid bloodshed” garnered headlines.
Ukraine said 13 personnel had been killed at the time. However, it was discovered after a few days that they were alive and had been apprehended.
It was then claimed that at least some of the island’s defenders had been released in a prisoner swap. However, Ms Zazian, 30, from Podolsk, Odesa; has yet to hear from her husband, Arthur, who is also 30 years old.
