Death and destruction left behind after attack in villages near Kharkiv

There was an incendiary munitions attack in a town near the front lines of Kharkiv.

Valentina, a Tsyrkuny resident, told that an explosion had occurred near her house, and her husband had ascended into the attic to see if it was on fire.

She heard another explosion and called out her husband’s name, searching the attic and yard but failed to locate him.

Viktor went to check on their neighbor’s house.

Valentina showed the place where he was killed: behind a tree, with a huge hole in his chest and his ear ripped off.

“He’s my husband,” Valentina said.

Another hamlet resident, Vera, said she saw “brilliant sparkles” after a bomb damaged three homes.

According to Paton Walsh, the incendiary munition, which burns through everything in its path, was used after intense conventional shelling.

Ukrainian officials have indicated that they have been pushing toward the Russian border for the previous two weeks, liberating small villages on the borders of Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city before the Russian invasion began on February 24.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russian shelling of areas retaken by Ukrainian forces continues.

“I have no strength or patience left after my husband was torn to pieces. You must understand how hard it is,” she said.
