According to ABC7, an eight-year-old youngster in Chicago, Illinois, brought a gun to school in his backpack, which inadvertently went off and injured a classmate.
According to the story, the second-grader discovered his mother’s pistol under her bed and brought it to school.
The judge chastised the 28-year-old woman in court and charged her with child endangerment. A fine of $1000 was imposed on her.
Judge Michael Hogan chastised her, saying, “We are inches away, probably millimetres away, from a very different case and a very tragic tragedy.”
The event occurred on Tuesday morning at Walt Disney Magnet School. The gun went off inside the kid’s bag just before 10 a.m., according to the police.
The bullet reportedly rebounded off the ground and struck a seven-year-old youngster. The child was subsequently sent to a nearby hospital.
A Glock 19 handgun was located inside the student’s bag, which was handed over to school security personnel.
Her firearms were licenced, according to the woman’s lawyers, and the incident was not planned or done on purpose.
