EU sends 600 million euros to Ukraine says von der Leyen

Ukraine has received a new tranche of EUR 600 million from the European Union, which is working on a mechanism to deliver an additional EUR 9 billion loans by the end of the year.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, tweeted this on her Twitter account.

“We gave Ukraine a new tranche of Macro-Financial Assistance at €600 million today. More is on the way: in 2022, we proposed a €9 billion loan for Ukraine. We’ll work on a reconstruction framework to assist Ukraine to rebuild as a free, democratic country, in addition to providing relief “she stated.

On May 19, the European Commission proposed giving Ukraine EUR 9 billion in macro-financial aid to help the country preserve financial stability in the face of Russian aggression.

The European Commission has also proposed the creation of an international platform to encourage the EU, international partners, and international financial institutions to participate in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction efforts.
