A new proof of Russian military atrocities committed during the takeover of Bucha, Kyiv region.
The newspaper looked at recordings received by their colleagues at The New York Times, which showed occupiers killing at least eight Ukrainian males.
On March 4, the first video from surveillance cameras shows nine hunchbacked Ukrainian detainees being led by Russian paratroopers (among them a man wearing a bright blue jacket). This footage, according to the newspaper, is the clearest proof that these guys were captured by the Russian military just minutes before their death.
According to eight witnesses, Russian forces then led the men to a neighboring office building, which the occupants seized and turned into a makeshift base. The Ukrainian men never returned after hearing shots.
According to the publication, the footage captured by a drone a day later, on March 5, was the first visual evidence to match eyewitness reports. It depicts bodies lying on the ground outside an office building at 144 Yablunska Street, with two Russian soldiers standing guard nearby. A bright blue jacket was found among the dead.
As of May 4, law enforcement officials had located and recognized the bodies of 1,235 victims of Russian aggression in Kyiv region, according to the chief of local police. There are still 282 bodies to be identified. The majority of the victims were shot.
