Horror and humour are two of the most difficult genres to create, as scaring or making people laugh is challenging. When you combine them, finding the appropriate balance becomes critical; otherwise, the outcome can go any way.
In filmmaker Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, however, he has found the correct footing. While the sequel to the franchise, starring Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, and Tabu, manages to keep the thrills and chills of the first, the tale is completely different from the first – with the exception of Manjulika.
Ruhan Randhawa (Aaryan) and Reet Rathore (Advani) are strangers who meet in a snowy region and decide to spend some time at a music festival, which helps them avert a fatal accident. But fate brings them to an abandoned castle, where they will face more problems, one of which is Manjulika.
Anees Bazmee is known for his comedic films like as the Welcome franchise, Singh Is Kinng, and No Entry, thus the humorous elements in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 aren’t surprising given the director’s expertise in the genre. To make his scenes unique, he has incorporated a variety of things. For example, there’s a puzzle segment that maintains faithful to the film’s title.
The tale has a few minor issues, particularly in the climax, which felt a little protracted, but Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 manages to keep your interest throughout. Farhad Samji and Aakash Kaushik’s dialogues are well-written, while DOP Manu Anand’s lens captures the proper emotions. Background music is another vital aspect of a horror comedy, and Sandeep Shirodkar does an excellent job with it.
Kartik, Kiara, and Tabu deliver strong performances; the central couple’s onscreen chemistry is particularly noteworthy, and all other characters deliver admirably. Overall, the picture has broad appeal and has the ability to reintroduce audiences to the theatres.
