Is Habs Getting Ideas From Indian Film Plots?

The drama industry in Pakistan plays a significant role in producing high-quality content that not only entertains local viewers but is also popular in our neighbouring country, India.

Sharing a cultural heritage inspires creative freedom, and there have been instances where members of the entertainment industry have been heavily influenced by one another.

Habs, starring Ushna Shah and Feroze Khan on ARY Digital, came across as yet another case of Bollywood ‘inspiration.’ The plot is based on the Bollywood film Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hai, with a few changes.

Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hai starred Anil Kapoor (Vijay) and Kajol (Megha), two people from different walks of life who decide to marry on a contract basis due to unusual circumstances.

Vijay is a wealthy man who refuses to marry, while Megha is the sole breadwinner in the family.

When you have talented actors like Feroze and Ushna on board, the project is bound to succeed. That’s exactly what happened.

The first few episodes kept viewers interested right away, but it didn’t take long for viewers to notice the striking resemblance to the Bollywood production. Megha’s (Ushna Shah) song is similar to Ayesha’s.

The writer, Aliya Makhdoom, embellishes the plot by including a staple of Pakistani drama – the perspective of a negative Phuppo – but the striking resemblance remains.

Based on the teaser promos, we have a strong feeling that the contract marriage angle will be revealed soon on Habs. In one of the commercials, Basit hands over divorce papers to Ayesha.

In another, Ayesha discusses the difficulties in her life that eventually lead her to decide to take a chance. Let us wait and see until then!
