Indigenous leaders met with Prince Charles in Canada; pleading with the Queen to apologise for the “assimilation and genocide” of indigenous children.

The prince “acknowledged” mistakes in handling the relationship with indigenous people; according to RoseAnne Archibald, national leader of the Assembly of First Nations.
Residential schools in Canada have resulted in the deaths or maltreatment of indigenous children.
The Queen has been urged to apologise over the incident. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have been on a three-day visit of Canada, the Queen’s home country, to commemorate the 96-year-old monarch’s Platinum Jubilee.
During a reception in Ottawa attended by indigenous leaders, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and others; Ms Archibald made a direct request to Prince Charles for an apology on behalf of the Queen.
