Dubai hospital launches surgical robot to facilitate minimally invasive surgeries.

DUBAI: A specialised medical team at Dubai Hospital has successfully executed the first Da Vinci Xi Surgical Robot surgery on a 22-year-old Emirati patient who had a blockage in the upper region of the ureter.

The patient developed enlarged kidneys as a result of the complaint and its complications.

The obstructed segment of the ureter was removed and the ureter was reconnected to the renal pelvis during a two-hour operation performed by Dr. Yasser Ahmad Al Saeedi, Consultant, Robotic Surgeon, and Head of the Urology Department, and his colleagues.

According to the hospital, the operation went well and the patient would be discharged in a few days.

Dr. Maryam Al Raisi, CEO of Dubai Hospital, stated that the hospital prioritises the introduction of cutting-edge technologies and smart solutions in order to provide the best level of specialised patient-centered care, in keeping with the DHA’s vision and goal.

Dr. Al Saeedi, the first Emirati surgeon to specialise in robotic surgery, describes the procedure as “a state-of-the-art surgical procedure in which the traditional laparoscopic technique is combined with high precision robotic technology to ensure minimal incision, enhanced precision, faster recovery time, and minimal post-surgery hospitalisation.”
