Moscow claims it has no knowledge on the case of a Russian soldier who pleaded guilty to killing a Ukrainian civilian in the conflict’s first war crimes tribunal.

Because Russia no longer has a diplomatic presence in Ukraine; Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday that Russia’s ability to aid Sgt. Vadim Shyshimarin is “extremely limited.”
Shyshimarin, 21, is accused of killing a 62-year-old civilian in the head; during the early days of the war in the northeastern village of Chupakhivka.
