Tube strike announced for Platinum Jubilee weekend

Tube strike announced for Platinum Jubilee weekend

The London Underground has declared that personnel will walk out of two critical stations during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.

Tube workers in the RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) have voted to strike on Friday, June 3 at Euston and Green Park stations, citing a poisonous work environment fostered by a “bullying boss.”

The strike will last all day and will interrupt services on the Victoria, Jubilee, and Piccadilly lines at both stations.

The two stations will be crucial for anyone attending celebrations near Buckingham Palace, as the city prepares for a massive inflow of tourists as Her Majesty celebrates her 70th year on the throne.

The union claims that if Transport for London takes action against the boss, the problem will be settled.

RMT members at both stations have been subjected to years of harassment, bullying, and wrongful dismissals by a management who has created a poisonous work environment, according to the union.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “Staff at Euston and Green Park Tube have suffered years of sustained bullying and intimidation by a manager who has created a toxic working environment.”
