Today’s PMQs are expected to focus primarily on a potential windfall tax.
“When Boris Johnson comes up today, he better come up with something new because honestly, the British public are running out of patience,” Labour’s shadow environment minister Jim McMahon told.
“They must meet Labour where we are because Labour is where the British people are,” he continued.
Conservative Harriet Baldwin said people should be “reassured they are being heard,” adding, “There is support coming this month,” referring to the council tax refund and the hike in the national insurance threshold.
Ms Baldwin stated that energy companies already pay a higher rate of corporate tax “than everyone else in the country” in response to a windfall tax.
“People don’t want to wait till July; they need help and support right now,” said Wendy Chamberlain, the Liberal Democrat top whip.
She claimed that her political party was the first to advocate for a windfall tax.
