The measure, according to City Attorney Kristin Bronson, will ensure that parks and city buildings are “gun-free” zones; and is not designed to restrict gun rights.

The Denver City Council enacted an ordinance on Monday prohibiting firearms carry in city buildings and parks.
The bill passed 9-3 and will be sent to the mayor’s office for signing or veto in the next 48 hours, according to a City Council official.
The ordinance was passed in the wake of a nationwide wave of gun violence and mass shootings.
However, police enforcement and military employees are excluded from the concealed carry restriction. Licensed security guards acting in the course of their responsibilities; permitted activities at Denver police and sheriff shooting ranges, and genuine athletic activities are also exempt.
