It’s Doja Cat’s turn to rule. During the recent Award season, the singing star has been on top of the charts as well as on stage, earning award after award. Fans caught a glimpse of the rapper dousing a glass of vodka before stepping up the platform to deliver her address at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.

Doja talked out about the incident and discussed what was going through her thoughts at the time during an interview with ET. The Women singer stated that she was not expecting to win at the moment, and that she had a million other things on her mind, which is why she seemed surprised by her victory.

She went on to say, “I’m briefed on things, like there’s things that I know, like when I’m nominated and things like that. But my mind is in other places. Like, ‘Oh my god, Janet Jackson is 10 feet away from me.’ And ‘Oh my god, Mary J. Blige has also been 10 feet away from me for the last, how long have we been here?’ And so my mind is on everything else.”

On the other hand, Doja added, “But then when it happens, [I go blank].”

The rapper elaborated, “So I was shocked and I ran up. And I was like, ‘I need something.’ Because I felt like my first speech was flat, a little bit? I don’t know. But it was great. It was amazing.”

Doja also mentioned that, unlike her blunder at the Grammys when she had to run to the stage, she remembered not to use the toilet just before her name was called.
