KARACHI: At least one person was killed and 10 other people were injured in a blast that happened at Karachi’s Iqbal Cloth Market in Kharadar near Memon Mosque on Monday night.
Police said that the nature of the blast could not be ascertained so far, adding that the Bomb Disposal Squad had been called. However, the fire erupted at the site at once. The deceased was identified as Sania, wife of Khalid.
The dead and injured have been shifted to Karachi Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment respectively.
A police mobile van and a number of motorcycles have been damaged in the blast. Police sources said their van might be the target of the explosion.

Heavy contingent of police, rangers and rescue services have reached.
Earlier, sources said the blast took place at a shop of gas cylinders. However, later, investigation sources said ostensibly the 2 kg bomb was planted in a bike.
Condemning the Kharadar blast incident, Karachi Administrator and Sindh Government Spokesperson Barrister Murtaza Wahab directed to provide best possible medical assistance to the injured. He said Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had also taken notice of the incident and an emergency had been declared at the Civil Hospital.

CM Murad called Sindh Police inspector general and sought detailed report on the blast incident. He directed the district administration and police to right away reach at the site and help the masses. He said the district administration should try to save human lives.
