Durham’s Test prospect Matty Potts bowled his side to their first win of the season, dismissing Glamorgan for a meagre 137 runs.
With a 65-3 lead going into the last day, the Welsh looked to be minor favorites, but they couldn’t stop Potts and Brydon Carse (2-31).
Potts got 7-40 in six games this season to reach 35 first-class wickets.
So far in 2022, Glamorgan has two victories, two loses, and two draws.
Potts had Kiran Carlson caught behind without scoring off a snorter of a rising ball, and key man Sam Northeast edged to slip on 26. Durham were on the front foot from the start of the final day.
Carse had some help from the pitch, catching Billy Root behind for 10 as he tried to pull, and Potts finished with a five-wicket haul by trapping David Lloyd lbw for naught.
As the visitors became utterly bogged down, losing five wickets for 60 runs in the morning session, Carse had the last specialist hitter Chris Cooke caught behind for 22 runs.
Durham had not dismissed an opponent twice in their first five games, but Potts bowled Michael Neser for 18 and Michael Hogan first ball to seal the victory, removing the need for England captain Ben Stokes to bowl.
Glamorgan were penalized five runs for two minor infractions during the game, with Root and Neser expressing their disappointment with the rulings.
On Thursday, May 19, Durham takes on Middlesex at Lord’s, while Glamorgan has a week free before the T20 Blast.
