KARACHI: Pakistan’s senior female cricketer Nida Dar believes that, because to a lack of infrastructure, there is a significant disparity in fitness between Pakistani and foreign cricketers.
Nida was asked about Pakistani women cricketers’ lack of fitness at a media interaction on Thursday at the National Stadium.
“We try our hardest to maintain high levels of fitness, and there’s no truth to rumours that senior players don’t train hard,” the cricketer said in response to a question.
“However, our environment is very different from that of other countries, and you cannot ignore it. We train based on the resources available to us. You should realise that, with the available resources, we cannot compete in terms of fitness with overseas cricketers “Nida clarified.
The cricketer went on to express her thoughts on the cultural divide. “When it comes to foreign places, children begin training as early as kindergarten. Such an environment does not exist here. Not all of the girls here, in particular, receive help from their family “she remarked.
Nida is currently one of Pakistan’s most seasoned cricketers. She has played in 91 One-Day Internationals and 108 Twenty-20 Internationals for Pakistan.
