Report: Russian invaders have already committed 200 environmental crimes in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has reported 231 environmental crimes committed by Russian troops this is according to the press service of Ukraine’s Ecology Ministry.

“Since the first day of the war, the Ecology Ministry has been recording environmental crimes by the ruscists, assisted by subordinate executive bodies and environmental activists, and calculating losses using special methodology,” said Ukraine’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets.

According to the minister, the Russian Federation has already committed 231 environmental crimes on Ukrainian land and in the Black Sea. The most ecocide cases were found in Kyiv (34), Donetsk (27), and Dnipropetrovsk (26). (22).

“This report will be added to the general pool of losses as a result of Russia’s hostilities, which is being compiled by the Ministry for Reintegration of Ukraine’s Temporarily Occupied Territories in preparation for filing a lawsuit with the UN International Court of Justice,” Ruslan Strilets added.

According to reports, the Ecology Ministry has created a mechanism for measuring the amount of air pollution emissions and subsequent damage caused by Russian bombardment.
