According to the mayor of Mariupol, which is currently mostly held by Russian forces; more than 10,000 people could die by the end of the year.

“The humanitarian situation in Mariupol is becoming terrible,” stated Mariupol Mayor Vadim Boichenko in a Telegram message. “There are no medicines or doctors, no running water, no sewage, and so on.”
He cautioned that if the city’s clean water and sewage systems fail, epidemics could erupt; particularly among the city’s ailing and old residents. According to the mayor, some 100,000 citizens remain in the southern port city and are awaiting evacuation.
