Ukraine has earned the right to be a full member of the European Union, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to source, the president made the statement while speaking with students from French schools and colleges via video link.
As the Ukrainian Army has demonstrated, Ukraine can only strengthen other EU countries, according to Zelensky. He also emphasized that Ukrainians are well-educated, cultural, and multilingual. He continued, “It appears to me that this is a reasonably proper culture that deserves respect.”
The Ukrainian president mentioned a mutual willingness of Ukraine, on one hand, to join the EU, and of the EU, on the other hand – to welcome Ukraine in its family. “Ukraine cannot be held at a distance, that is, being admitted and not being admitted at the same time,” Zelensky stressed.
He contrasted it to a situation in which a man and a woman have been living together for years and one continuously claims that they will marry soon but never follows through, and ultimately a circumstance arises that is significant in its ambiguity, and the recommendation is made to “go find someone else.”
“It’s impossible to live in constant fear. It’s as if the entire family is seated at a table, and someone has been invited, but you refuse to seat them. This appears to me to be unjust “Zelensky continued.
“Ukraine is on par with any other European country and respects the EU’s member states, while also wishing to be recognized in the same way. Noting anything more, noting nothing less, “the president emphasized
French President Emmanuel Macron launched an idea on May 9 to establish a new “European Political Community” for nations that are not formal members of the EU, including Ukraine.
