Hungary’s economy would be destroyed by the European Union’s proposed ban on Russian oil, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said.

According to Reuters, a deal between Budapest and the EU on the proposed ban seems doubtful. According to Reuters, Szijjarto remarked in a video uploaded on his Facebook page; “Brussels has no proposal for a solution…”; “that might handle the atomic bomb-like repercussions of this probable oil embargo against Russia on Hungary’s economy.”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban branded the proposal as an economic “atomic bomb.” Hungary is one of the most vocal opponents of the EU’s proposed ban; which requires the approval of all 27 EU states.
