Boris Johnson, the British prime minister, announced on Wednesday; that he had reached an agreement with Sweden to strengthen European security; he committed to support both nations’ military forces if they were attacked.

“In the event of a calamity or an attack against Sweden, the United Kingdom would come to Sweden’s aid with everything Sweden needed”; Johnson said this during a joint press conference with his Swedish counterpart, Magdalena Andersson.
He said that even if Sweden decides to join NATO; the United Kingdom will “back whatever course of action Sweden decides to take”; and “we’ll be as useful and supportive as we can.”
Later in the day, Johnson will go to Finland, where he is anticipated to sign a similar deal with President Sauli Niinistö.
