Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, said on Wednesday that the country’s internal political situation is steady.
He was dismissing reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin is about to declare martial law.
He was asked if Putin had intent to impose martial law in Russia, to which he replied, “No, this is not in the plans.”
According to US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, the current trend in Ukraine has increased the likelihood that Putin will resort to more drastic measures, such as “imposing martial law, reorienting industrial production, or potentially escalatory military actions to free up the resources needed to achieve his objectives as the conflict drags on.”
