It’s been a long time coming, but Warner Bros. Games Montreal has finally given us our first look at Gotham Knights, their next open-world game. At the same time, the developer delivered some disappointing news to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners.
The new trailer comes first. The video, which runs just over 13 minutes, is effectively a walkthrough of the game, focused on the characters Nightwing and Red Hood.
There’s a lot of bashing up bad guys on roofs and zipping between buildings, as well as an examination of how the investigation parts function.
The video’s most intriguing aspect is how distinct the two characters look to be; Gotham Knights, which also stars Robin and Batgirl, is known for having numerous playable heroes.
Gotham Knights was previously announced in 2020, with plans to premiere the following year. However, due to numerous delays, it will now premiere on October 25th.
While Gotham Knights was set to debut on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the developer has announced that it would no longer be available on previous-generation systems.
“To provide players with the best possible gameplay experience, the game will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC and will not be available for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles,” Warner Bros. said in a statement.
From the surprisingly good Horizon Forbidden West to the controversial debut of Cyberpunk 2077, cross-generation titles have had mixed results recently.
