Khalistan referendum: polling to be held in Italy on Sunday

BRESCIA:

On October 31, last year, a referendum for a separate Sikh homeland began in London, and tens of thousands of Sikhs have engaged in polling in several cities around the UK and other nations in conjunction with the Khalistan referendum.

The polling for the Khalistan referendum in Brescia, Italy, will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. local time.

The drill sends a powerful message to India, urging them to eliminate discrimination against Sikhs. The referendum results will be shared with the United Nations and other international organisations in order to reach a wider agreement on a separate homeland for Sikhs in India.

The quest for a separate homeland by Sikhs is entirely consistent with the US Charter, and India cannot prevent them from obtaining their birthright of independence.

More than 6,000 Sikhs from Switzerland and the neighbouring countries of France, Italy, and Germany converged in Geneva last year to vote in the non-binding Khalistan referendum.

According to a news release, voters overcame severe snow and rain in the Swiss capital to kick off the European phase of the referendum on the United Nations Human Rights Days.
