Sources said that senior PML-N leadership will leave for London tomorrow for the meeting.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is already in London to attend the meeting while federal ministers including Ahsan Iqbal, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khurram Dastgir will fly abroad tomorrow.

This will be the first meeting of PML-N to be convened by Nawaz Sharif after his brother, Shehbaz Sharif, has assumed the charge of the prime minister.

Last month, the PML-N-led government issued a new passport to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to enable him to travel to Pakistan.

PTI government refused to renew Nawaz’s passport after it expired in February 2021. However, the then-interior minister Sheikh Rashid had offered to issue a special certificate to the PML-N chief in case he wanted to travel back to Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif is staying in London since October 2019 on the pretext of medical grounds after he got eight-week bail from Lahore High Court (LHC). In September 2020, Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared him a ‘proclaimed offender’.
