On Monday, anti-Russian protesters hurled red paint at the Russian envoy to Poland; this prevented him from paying tribute to Red Army soldiers who perished in World War II at a Warsaw cemetery.

On Victory Day, when the Allies defeated Nazi Germany, Ambassador Sergey Andreev arrived at the cemetery to leave flowers. A parade was held in Moscow’s Red Square to commemorate the event.
Hundreds of protestors opposed to Russia’s war in Ukraine greeted Andreev as he arrived at the Soviet Soldiers Cemetery in the Polish capital.
Protesters waved Ukrainian flags and screamed “Nazi” and “murderer” at him; while some wore white sheets splattered with blood to represent the Ukrainian war victims. Other members of his entourage were also seen with red paint smeared on them.
