Monday appears to be a critical day for Ukraine. May 9 is Victory Day in Russia; a national holiday celebrating the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. It is traditionally commemorated by an elaborate military parade in Moscow’s Red Square, which is inspected by senior Kremlin officials.
Western authorities are concerned that President Vladimir Putin would take advantage of the opportunity to declare war on Ukraine; which Russia invaded in February.
