ACE arrests cop, recovers 2 kg gold, Rs2.1mn cash

LAHORE: Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab Director General Rai Nasir on Monday claimed to have a arrested a police official and recovered two kilogramme gold and Rs2.1 million cash which was stolen.

Addressing a press conference here at his office in Lahore, Rai Nasir said the stolen items by an ASI had been recovered from an accused land grabber of Lahore named Mansha Bomb. He said the accused ASI Mubashar Iqbal had been arrested and was under investigation.

The ACE Punjab director general further said he had given a task to officials to solve 200 top cases of the provincial anti-corruption watchdog within the next three months. Rai Nasir further made it clear that all the corrupt elements within bureaucracy would be taken to task for possessing assets beyond their known sources of income.

To a question, ACE Punjab DG said any official who misused his authority and registered fake cases would be punished.

Rai Nasir said modern technology would be used to solve financial scams and white collar crimes.

The DG said 80 kanals of land would be acquired from the Punjab government for constructing new headquarters of the Punjab ACE as currently it was being run on a rented building.
