French President Emmanuel Macron spoke often with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the early weeks of his campaign, and the two leaders chatted for more than two hours again earlier this week.
Mr. Macron met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US Vice President Joe Biden in the days following his victory on April 24.
Earlier today, during their phone discussion, Mr Johnson advised French President Emmanuel Macron to avoid any negotiations with Russia that benefited Russia’s “false narrative” about the Ukraine crisis.
